Day 35 on the Trail

Today was a pretty good day. We had planned to go farther than we did but I'm glad that we changed our minds. We had planned to go 24 miles to trimpi shelter but due to the timing we decided to go to this Baptist Hostel. By going 4 miles less than planned we hoped that we were going to be able to go to a sunrise service.

Before I go in to more detail on the hostel I want to tell you about the rest of the day. It was an easy day, we got a late start and just took it easy for most of the day. We crossed over the Grayson Highlands this morning. It was really pretty, rolling hills with a few rocks on top! On top of the views there were ponies in a few different places. We didn't spend the time getting to them but just watching them as we passed.

There wasn't many people out on the trail after getting out of the Grayson Highland park. It was probably because most had seen the weather forecast. Around mid afternoon we got rained on for a bit but it was nice to cool down, not really enough to soak us!

Back to the hostel though. We arrived at Dickey Gap around 6 and had no cellphone service to call a shuttle or ride. So this meant we got to hitch our first ride into town. It took around 45 minutes to finally get a ride 3 miles up the rode. It was totally worth it, a gentleman and his son rode by and was nice enough to take us to the church. From there we walked up to the hostel and met Stitch, Just Phil, and Trippin. They were the other hikers that stayed at the hostel us. We talked and hung out for a while before I walked down to take a shower. Just Phil had some awful blisters on his heals that he's going to town tomorrow to get checked out. They were worse than any I had ever seen before.

After dinner it was straight to bed because we have to get up early tomorrow for the sunrise service. I'm extremely excited though, we haven't been to a service since we have been on the trail. Stoked for the Easter service! Thanks again for the love and support! Continue to pray for us and our ministry.
