Day 36 on the Trail

Woke up this morning and it's Easter! Last night wasn't the best of sleep because Just Phil is a big time snorer. It's ok though, this morning I was wide awake and ready for the sunrise service. We had a van come and shuttle us to the cemetery where the service was held. When we arrived the cemetery was on top of a hill with a beautiful 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains. As we waited for everyone to arrive we sat around and talked to each other.

I was able to find out that Trippin's husband is in the military and was being deployed today while she was out on the trail. If everyone could keep her husband and her family in your prayers that would be great. Also Just Phil's blisters are still extremely bad and he is gonna go to the doctor later today. Pray for him to have a quick recovery so he can stay out on the trail.

Once everyone arrived we started service. There was a woman and man there that had hiked the trail before and they opened us off my singing a AT version of Amazing Grace. I thought it was a really good version of the song. The passage the pastor preached on was Mark 16:1-9 and focused on Mary Magdalene and why Jesus appeared to her first after his resurrection.

After service they shuttle us back to the church where they had prepared a huge breakfast. We all ate as much as we could, it's hard to pass up good food when your out on the trial. A kind gentleman from the church gave us a ride back to Dickey Gap later on this morning.

As hiking goes, today wasn't to bad other than there were a ton of rocks on the trail. We put in 20 plus miles again today which puts us 4.2 outside of Atkins. This is where we wanted to be for an easy walk in to town tomorrow. I can definitely feel my feet aching because of the rocks though, over a long period of time rock do a number to your feet. We hiked a lot with Stitch today which was cool. He's from Indiana! We left him a few miles back though because he was going to stop at the town of Marion instead of Atkins 12 miles farther. I don't blame him though Marion is a bigger town and his friend was waiting on him there.

Now I am stealth camping close to town where we can get in early tomorrow for a nero. I can't wait to rest for most of the day tomorrow, my body needs all the rest it can get right now. But all in all it was an amazing day, wish I was at home celebrating Easter with the family but I know this is where I'm supposed to be at the moment. Thanks for all the love, prayers, and support it means the world to me!
